In the Melbourne Review Delicious Magazine as a place to visit in South Melbourne

July 2010

We were in the Sydney Morning Herald and Melbourne’s Herald Sun “10 Best Australian Urban Spa’s 2010″.  Very exciting – we didn’t know.

BODY FREEDOM URBAN SPA RETREAT, MELBOURNE
“For two blissful hours I’m spoiled and pampered from head to toe”
It’s easy to think you’ve walked into the wrong place when you step into the Body Freedom Urban Spa Retreat in historic South Melbourne.
The sterility, corporate sameness and distant professionalism of many day spas are nowhere to be seen.
Set in a refurbished three-storey 1850s hosiery mill, Body Freedom is instead warm and cosy, with open fires, wooden floorboards and high ceilings retaining
the charm of the past. Co-owner Jacqueline Johnston explains, in far more detail than at most other spas, the delicious full-body treatment, The Melt, ($199) that I’m to have. For two hours I don’t move from the table as I’m spoiled in silence with body brushing, then a massage, facial, head and scalp treatment; and exfoliation, mud mask
and mint butter massage tor my feet. It’s no surprise when Jacqueline tells me 95 per cent of clients nod off during The Melt, some snoring loudly. I stave off the
zzzzz’s. Who wants to miss a moment of this bliss? – Jen Kelly
